Pattaya —
A tour bus carrying a large group of Chinese tourists crashed into a truck on a road heading to Pattaya on the evening of July 30th, 2024. Several people were injured in the accident.
The accident took place at 4:30 PM on July 30th, 2024, on Route 36 (Katinglai-Rayong) inbound to Pattaya, Nong Plalai sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Banglamung Police, The Pattaya News reporters, and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation quickly responded to an accident involving a Chinese tourist bus and a six-wheel truck.
At the accident scene, authorities found a white tourist bus severely damaged at the front. The driver, Mr. Samak Sanehdee, 44, was injured and received first aid from rescue personnel before being transported to Banglamung Hospital.
According to reports, the bus was carrying 13 Chinese tourists, including three men, seven women, one boy, and two girls, who were all visibly shaken by the accident. Two of the tourists sustained minor injuries and were provided first aid before being transferred to a hotel via another bus.
Additionally, a black PCX motorcycle was found overturned at the scene. The foreign rider, Mr. Marcus Benjamin, 42, was injured and received initial treatment before being taken to Banglamung Hospital.
In front of the tourist bus, authorities found a six-wheel truck, which sustained minor damage. The truck driver, Mr. Sekson Hanadong, 53, was unharmed.
Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle rider allegedly crossed into the path of the six-wheel truck after having skidded due to sand on the road. Trying to avoid the bike, the truck driver swerved and collided with a central barrier. The tourist bus driver, coming from a distance and attempting to brake, then crashed into the rear of the truck.
Banglamung Police are investigating further to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident and potential legal procedures.
