Pattaya, Thailand-
On July 29th, 2024, the coastal areas of Pattaya and Na Kluea experienced heavy rain and strong winds. The Meteorological Department had previously forecasted heavy rain in 80% of the area, particularly in the Eastern region and Bangkok.
Additionally, the Southern Andaman coast and the Gulf of Thailand were expected to see waves up to 2 meters high.
Damage Reports:
1. Soi Na Kluea 27, Residential Home:
– A massive pine tree, over 20 meters tall and approximately 40 years old, succumbed to the intense winds and rain. The saturated soil caused the tree’s roots to uproot, and it fell onto a house, severely damaging the roof and property. Officials promptly responded to cut down the fallen tree and restore normalcy.
2. Commercial Building, Soi Na Kluea 16, Number 285/150:
– The roof of a large commercial building, spanning more than 10 meters in width and length, was blown off by the strong winds. Remarkably, the roof landed on high-voltage power lines without causing injuries. Authorities coordinated with a crane to safely remove the debris, preventing further hazards to the public and tourists.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are urged to remain vigilant as the storm continues to impact the region. Emergency services are on standby to address any further incidents, although the area has mainly been experiencing only light rains as of 11:30 PM Bangkok Time.
