On July 26th, 2024, Mr. Thianchai Phisitwuttinun, the Executive Chairman of Global Sports Ventures (GSV), and executive of Rajadamnern Boxing Stadium, announced that over 140,000 international tourists attended Muay Thai matches in the first half of the year, setting a new record for the 79-year-old stadium.
Thianchai predicts that the number will reach 300,000 by year-end, attributing the success to the appeal of the Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) and the stadium’s promotion of authentic Muay Thai. He is confident that within three years, the stadium will attract one million international visitors annually.
Since GSV took over management in February 2022, significant improvements have been made to enhance the stadium’s appeal to both local and international tourists. The RWS has seen a remarkable 4,000% increase in international attendance in just two years, broadcasting to over 200 countries and territories, according to Thianchai.
Thianchai noted that the audience demographic is diverse, with 45% attending as couples, 38% in groups, and 8% as families with children.
International fans particularly favor VIP seating. Beyond the matches, Rajadamnern promotes Muay Thai culture through various experiences.
Visitors can enjoy traditional rituals such as the Wai Khru ceremony and the Sarama, as well as savor Thai cuisine and beverages.
Additionally, the stadium offers Muay Thai-themed merchandise, including traditional Thai boxing shorts, enhancing the cultural immersion for the spectators, concluded Thianchai.
