A team of Pattaya Police inspected Soi Yensabai in South Pattaya on Wednesday night, July 24th, to prevent and address issues caused by what they said were mainly Kuwaiti tourists allegedly riding motorcycles recklessly, honking loudly, and causing disturbances to local residents in the area.
The inspection, which took place at 11 PM, was instructed by the Chief of Pattaya Police Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit. He deployed several patrol officers to set up checkpoints at the entrance and end of Soi Yensabai, which is typically a rendezvous for foreign bikers, especially Arabian tourists.
This followed another large amount of complaints by local residents just a short period of time after a prior crackdown as we reported here.
It also followed reports of fights and conflicts between Middle Eastern tourists in South Pattaya, as reported by The Pattaya News team here.
The focus of the operation was to create public awareness and warn the tourists against reckless driving, loud revving, and creating noise disturbances. They also are focusing on the breaking of Thai road rules, such as not using helmets, having proper licenses, or documentation like insurance and registration.
During the operation, the police confiscated several motorcycles for further inspection after finding they lacked proper documentation. Additionally, they conducted searches for illegal items, including drugs and firearms, but did not find any prohibited substances or weapons.
