Sri Racha —

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Sri Racha, not far from Pattaya, has formally welcomed a new female pygmy hippo this morning, July 25th, 2024.

At 10:30 AM, Mr. Narongwit Chotchoy, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, announced the exciting news that the zoo has a new addition—a female pygmy hippo born on July 10th, 2024.

The baby was born to mother Jona, 25, and father Tony, 24. The zoo’s veterinarian confirmed that both mother and baby are in good health. The baby hippo, who is already active and staying close to her mother, is being kept under close watch as Jona is protective of her new offspring.

This baby pygmy hippo has quickly become a favorite among visitors, who have been bringing their children to see and take photos of the adorable new animal. Mr. Narongwit revealed that this is the seventh pygmy hippo born to mother Jona and father Tony at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, and the baby has not yet been named. However, the zoo is preparing to name it soon.
