Pattaya —
A combined team of officers from the Nongprue Police Station, Pattaya Tourist Police, and Banglamung District Administration raided a restaurant in Pattaya and arrested 10 people for alleged drug use.
The raid was carried out at 01:06 AM on July 15th, 2024. Over 50 officers raided the party arranged at the restaurant (name withheld pending further investigation) on Soi Khao Talo, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province, following a tip-off from concerned citizens.
Upon entering the premises, officers discovered a group of 10 individuals, including four Chinese men, three Laotian women, one Burmese woman, and two Thai nationals, engaged in a party involving alcohol consumption and alleged ketamine use.
Police said the restaurant is situated within a high-end residential complex and has four floors. The ground floor serves as a karaoke lounge for parties, and the second floor houses a restaurant.
Officers told the individuals at the party to cease their activities and switch off the music. They then proceeded to search the floor and reportedly discovered a large quantity of ketamine on a wooden tray on a table. Mr. Yang Daqin, a 42-year-old Chinese national, reportedly admitted to owning the illicit drug.
Following the raid, all ten individuals were apprehended and subjected to urine tests to detect drugs in their systems. The confiscated ketamine and the results of the urine tests were handed over to the investigating officers for further legal proceedings.
