National —
On the evening of July 14th, 2024, the Thai national media reported the results of the Miss Universe Thailand 2024 ‘Final Competition’. In a dazzling ceremony, Opal-Suchata Chuangsri emerged victorious, claiming the prestigious crown.
The event kicked off with an impressive opening performance by the 40 contestants, who were then introduced in sequence. The competition progressed through various rounds until only three finalists remained.
The final decision hinged on the judges’ evaluation of the contestants’ answers to a critical question: “The term ‘Woman Empowerment’ is often discussed in our society. Can you tell us what this term means to you and how you would incorporate it into your life?”
Opal Suchata’s winning response captivated the judges and audience alike: “I have always believed that our power can be conveyed through our stories. Like my experience with a breast tumor surgery and my OpalForHer project, which aims to raise awareness and provide guidance and hope to those battling breast cancer. This is a global issue, and empowering women extends beyond Thailand—it’s worldwide. This is what I have done and will continue to do.”
Her heartfelt answer elicited a thunderous applause and cheers from the audience, sealing her victory.
First runner-up was MUT 17, Phuket’s Suri-Suzana Renaud, followed by MUT 08, Ubon Ratchathani’s Mook-Karnruethai Tassabut, as the second runner-up.
Opal Suchata will now represent Thailand in the 73rd Miss Universe competition, set to take place in Mexico.
