A video of a driver potentially of foreign nationality driving recklessly on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya has sparked outrage and concern among Thai social media users.
The video, posted by Facebook user “รวย รวย,” captures the driver’s erratic and dangerous behavior, including swerving across lanes, nearly colliding with other vehicles, and driving with one hand while holding a beer can in the other.
According to the Facebook post, the incident occurred on the night of July 15th, 2024, on Sukhumvit Jomtien Second Road heading towards the Chaiyaphruek traffic light in Pattaya.
Eyewitness to the incident Mr. Dechathorn Sangworawongsa, 25, told The Pattaya News that he was returning home from U-Tapao Airport when he encountered the reckless driver near the Pattaya Floating Market. He described the driver’s behavior as extremely dangerous, noting that the individual was driving with one hand while holding a beer can and nearly caused an accident with another vehicle.
Mr. Dechathorn recorded the video before posting it on social media as evidence. He also noted that the motorbike the foreigner was driving has a foreign plate.
Many Thai netizens expressed their concerns about this reckless driving and urged Pattaya police to take immediate action.
