A 76-year-old British tourist was moderately injured after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Pattaya early on July 7th, 2024.
The accident happened at 12:10 AM on Soi Arunothai on Pattaya Central Road, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to find Mr. Graham Hughes lying injured on the road.
The 76-year-old British national appeared semi-conscious and had suffered a dislocated left shoulder and a laceration on his foot. The responders provided first aid before urgently transporting him to Banglamung Hospital.
According to eyewitness 41-year-old Ms. Pirawan, Mr. Graham had been in Thailand for two days and had just finished drinking at a bar when he was hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the street. The victim was thrown to the ground and suffered injuries, but the motorcyclist did not stop to help and immediately sped away from the scene.
The driver accidentally dropped their sandal.
Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage of the accident and are searching for the motorcyclist as of press time.
In another hit and run accident just outside of Pattaya last week a disabled man crossing the road was tragically killed on Highway 331.
