Over 15,000 People Expected to Join Pattaya Marathon in July

Pattaya —

Over 15,000 people are expected to participate in the upcoming Amazing Thailand Pattaya Marathon 2024 by MAMA that will take place in Pattaya on July 20th-21st, 2024.

A video of the event can be seen here on our YouTube channel.

A press conference was held yesterday, July 3rd, at the Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel to announce the readiness of the event. Mr. Amnat Charoensri, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province, presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya, Pol. Lt. Col. Nanthawut Suwanlaong, Deputy Commander of Police Region 2, and Mr. Nat Krutsut, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Tourism Department (TAT).

According to Mr. Poramase, the Pattaya Marathon has received over three international standard event certificates from the World Athletics Association for the 42.195 km marathon, 21.1 km half marathon, and 10 km run distances. This makes Pattaya Marathon one of only two marathons in Thailand to have received all three certifications for the same event.

Mr. Poramase stated that this year’s competition is expected to draw over 15,000 runners and nearly 15,000 accompanying travelers to Pattaya City. Over 20,000 room bookings are expected to be made, and more than 3,000 volunteers and officials will be on duty during the event. The event will also involve 100% road closures on the race route and is expected to generate over 250 million baht for the Pattaya and Chonburi economy.

The Pattaya Marathon 2024 will include four race categories, including the Marathon (42.195 km) and Half Marathon (21.1 km), which will start on Sunday, July 21st, while the 10 km, 4.5 km races, the wheelchair race, and the Family Run will take place on Saturday, July 20th.

The start and finish points for all races will be at the Dolphin Roundabout on North Pattaya Road, in front of Terminal 21 Pattaya. More information can be found at www.pattayamarathon.go.th.

TPN media notes that the two marathon days are also religious holidays and alcohol sales will be restricted and bars and nightlife closed, see here for more details.
