Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Peerasak Saeng-arun, a 48-year-old club manager, with a severe stab wound to his torso. Rescuers administered first aid before urgently transferring him to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment.
The police identified the suspect as Mr. Kanthaphong Rungruangsomboon, a 33-year-old bartender, who fled the scene before their arrival. According to Mr. Nattaphon Singto, a club employee, Kanthaphong had been working at the club for only three days and had a dispute with a waiter, whose name was not disclosed by the media. The club is also a new venue and has only recently opened.
On the day of the incident, Kanthaphong and the waiter reportedly had a physical altercation, and the club manager attempted to intervene. During the altercation, Kanthaphong allegedly used a sharp object to stab the manager.
Initial investigations by the officers, including reviewing CCTV footage from the “Tuk Tuk” club, revealed that after stabbing Peerasak, Kanthaphong reportedly apologized, claiming it was not his intention to harm him, before fleeing.
The officers later tracked down the suspect and took him into custody, escorting him to Pattaya City police station for further legal proceedings.
An unidentified foreign man is also being praised on social media for helping the victim. The unknown Good Samaritan, who appeared to have just been a customer and did not know the victim, helped stop further blood loss and maintain calm during the situation according to witnesses, as seen below.
