Pattaya —
Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Manoch Nongyai provided an update on the Bali Hai Pier walkway roof project today, stating the construction is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed by the end of August of 2024.
According to Mr. Manoch, the walkway roof project is being constructed alongside the overall pier renovation project. The walkway roof will provide shade and shelter from the sun and rain for Pattaya residents and tourists waiting at the pier to travel to Koh Larn.
The deputy mayor explained that the pier renovation project has already been completed by the contractor. The walkway roof project will begin on July 6th, 2024, and is expected to be finished by the end of August in the same year.
The 200-meter-long roof will be designed in a wave-like pattern to complement the marine theme of the Bali Hai Pier. Galvanized steel will be used for the roof structure due to its cost-effectiveness compared to stainless steel, Mr. Manoch said.
Additionally, the roof will not be attached directly to the pier but rather to plates installed on the piers support beams. This will distribute the weight of the roof evenly and prevent any unwanted strain on the pier structure.
Lastly, Mr. Manoch expressed his confidence in the safety and durability of the roof structure and encouraged both locals and tourists to look forward to its completion.
As we reported earlier today, Pattaya City has been busy implementing improvements across Bali Hai Pier after a recent visit from the Thai Prime Minister.
