Jealous Husband Seriously Injures Wife with Spade in Chonburi

A Thai man attacked and seriously injured his wife with a spade over jealousy in Chonburi province.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 PM on June 19th, 2024, at a labor camp located in Baan Thung Srakeaw, Khao Mai Kaew sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation responded to the scene after receiving a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, rescue workers found the victim, Mrs. A (alias), lying unconscious with a severe head wound. They immediately provided first aid and rushed her to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The assailant, identified as Mrs. A’s 64-year-old Thai husband, Mr. Thongchai (family name withheld by police), was found at the scene in an intoxicated state. He was immediately apprehended by police.

According to eyewitnesses, Mrs. A and Mr. Thongchai had been drinking alcohol with their friends and relatives at the labor camp after work. However, Mr. Thongchai reportedly became jealous of his wife and started arguing with her. The argument escalated, with Mr. Thongchai suddenly grabbing a spade and striking his wife’s head with the spade handle multiple times.

It was unclear why Mr. Thongchai suddenly became jealous. Police are investigating.
