Pattaya —
Police officers from Banglamung District and Pattaya Police Station raided several nightclubs in Pattaya early yesterday morning in an effort to prevent and suppress crime and ensure the safety of tourists and residents.
The operation took place at 2 AM on June 7th, led by Banglamung District Chief Mr. Weekit Manarojkit and Pattaya Police Station Superintendent Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit.
Officers first examined the nightclub named Fin Pattaya on Third Road, which was still open. Inside the venue, officers did not discover illegal items. However, upon inspecting the customers’ vehicles parked outside, they discovered a gun and an undisclosed quantity of ketamine in one customer’s car.
Officers then moved on to Eleven Club, also on Third Road, but found no evidence of any wrongdoing. Other nightclubs in the area were found to be closed.
The unidentified suspect who was found in possession of the gun and drugs was arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station for further investigation.
Pol. Col. Navin told The Pattaya News that this raid was part of an ongoing effort by police to crack down on crime in Pattaya and ensure the safety of visitors. Police are urging nightclubs and bars to comply with the “5 Free” policy, which includes the establishments being free from:
- Children (employees must be 18 years of age or older, and customers must be 20 years of age or older)
- Drugs
- Weapons
- Human trafficking
- Unsafe conditions (nightclubs must provide adequate security for their patrons, including CCTV cameras and fire exits)
A similar raid was conducted yesterday, in which two alleged illegal drug users were arrested.
