Chonburi —

A motorcyclist was injured early Sunday morning, May 26th, after colliding with a parked 18-wheeler trailer truck on Highway 331 in Chonburi province.

The Sawang Boriboon rescue unit received a report of the accident at around 12:36 AM and immediately rushed to the scene on Highway 331 in the Khao Mai Kaow area of the Banglamung district, to find a black Yamaha Alpha motorcycle severely damaged and an 18-wheeler truck parked on the side of the road.

The motorcycle rider, identified as 42-year-old Mr. Arom Ruamwong, was suffering from abrasions and a serious injury to his left ankle. Rescue workers provided him first aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital.

According to Mr. Arom, he was riding his motorcycle on Highway 331 when he collided with the parked truck. He claimed that the area was dark and he did not see the truck parked on the side of the road because it did not have any lights on.

The truck driver, Mr. Kittisak Owwattanagul, 45, alleged that his vehicle had broken down on the roadside and he had already activated his hazard lights. He explained that he only heard the impact before finding Mr. Arom and the motorcycle on the ground.

Relevant police are still investigating the accident to determine who is at fault due to the conflicting statements.
