Update May 25th, 2024, 8PM: Unfortunately, the officer involved in the accident later succumbed to his injuries.
At 10:50 PM on May 24th, 2024, Don Hua Lo police officers received a report of an alleged drunk driver in a sedan who broke through a police checkpoint and severely injured an officer on the Satphong-Don Hua Lor road in Mueang Chonburi.
Don Hua Lor police and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and discovered 2nd Lt. Thanakorn Inthasuwan unconscious on the ground with serious injuries. The rescue teams performed first aid before coordinating with Chonburi Hospital for his immediate transfer and medical treatment.
It was reported that 2nd Lt. Thanakorn was dragged 100 meters away from the police checkpoint.
The driver of the white sedan, publicly identified only as Mr. Thanasak, was found intoxicated in the driver’s seat. Police conducted an alcohol test, revealing a blood alcohol concentration of over 158 milligrams per decilitre.
The amount of alcohol that is considered an offense is blood alcohol levels above the legal limit of 50 milligrams per decilitre.
Initially, the police escorted Thanasak to Don Hua Lo police station for further legal proceedings.
