Pattaya Tourist Police arrested two transgender women accused of stealing a gold necklace from an Indian tourist. The necklace was worth over 60,000 baht, according to the tourist.
The incident occurred at 10:50 PM on May 9th, 2024, when the 50-year-old Indian tourist (name withheld by police) was relaxing on Pattaya Beach. Two transgender individuals approached him, pretending to talk to him before suddenly embracing him. As the tourist was distracted, the suspects swiftly removed his gold necklace and fled the scene.
The Indian tourist immediately filed a police report at the Pattaya Police Station upon realizing that his gold jewelry, which he said was worth over 60,000 baht, had disappeared from his neck.
After receiving the report, Pattaya Tourist Police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. After identifying the suspects and receiving the arrest warrants from Pattaya Provincial Court, the officers began tracking down the suspects, leading to their arrests on Wednesday night, May 15th, 2024.
The suspects were identified by police only as Monlada (34) and Kotchaphaphak (41). Monlada was arrested at a residence in the Banglamung district, along with a Yamaha Fino motorcycle used in the crime. Meanwhile, Kotchaphaphak was apprehended at a condominium parking lot in Pattaya.
Both suspects were taken to the Pattaya Police Station for further legal proceedings. They have yet to release a statement in the case.
