Pattaya —
Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Poramese Ngampiches revealed the successful participation of Pattaya in the Arabian Travel Mart (ATM) 2024 held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from May 6th to 9th, 2024.
The event, organized in collaboration with Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, Pattaya City, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Pattaya Office, brought together 12 local businesses from the hospitality, healthcare, tourism, and travel sectors to network and explore business opportunities with potential partners from the Middle East region.
According to the mayor, this event stemmed from the growing number of tourists from the Middle East. In 2023, over 600,000 visitors from the Middle East arrived in Thailand, of which 80,000 (13.4%) chose to visit Chonburi, the home province of Pattaya. This generated revenue of over 7.3 billion baht, with 140,000 visitors from Dubai alone contributing over 1.696 billion baht to the local economy.
Recognizing this potential, Pattaya City and Chonburi authorities decided to attend the Arabian Travel Mart, the world’s third-largest tourism trade fair, in Dubai to promote Pattaya’s and Chonburi’s unique offerings. Mr. Poramase said the booths of Chonburi and Pattaya received significant attention from Middle Eastern tourists and investors, who expressed keen interest in visiting Pattaya, stating their interest in the beaches and local temples.
Additionally, Mr. Poramase revealed that Pattaya will likely collaborate with Bangkok to showcase their attractions and products together in the next ATM event in order to strengthen the two provinces’ appeal to Middle Eastern tourists more effectively.
