A 4-year-old Estonian boy died after being struck and run over by a pickup truck in a village in Pattaya on the evening of May 13th, 2024.
The tragic accident took place at 5 PM on the day in question within the Suksiri village of Soi Bunsamphan, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue workers rushed to the scene upon receiving the report to find a group of residents circling the body of the victim, a 4-year-old Estonian boy, lying on the road.
The boy had suffered serious head injuries which bled profusely. Emergency responders and medical personnel attempted CPR to revive him, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his wounds.
It was reported that the boy was running across the street to meet his brother when he was hit by the pickup truck. The driver of the truck, Ms. Soraya Samanphong, 45, waited at the scene, visibly shaken by the accident, and told Nongprue police that she was slowly driving on the road when the accident occurred.
She stated that she did not see the boy crossing the street and believed she had hit a dog. Upon stopping and inspecting, however, Ms. Soraya was shocked to discover the boy and immediately called for help and cooperated with rescue teams.
Surveillance footage from the vicinity captured the accident. The video showed a girl and a boy running across the street. The girl crossed safely, but the boy was struck by the vehicle.
Nongprue police examined the area, reviewed the CCTV footage, and brought Ms. Soraya in for further questioning to determine the exact cause of the accident.
