Pattaya —

The Pattaya City sign at Laem Bali Hai has been defaced by vandals using spray paint, causing damage to the iconic tourist viewpoint.

According to local reports, the vandalism was discovered by authorities following social media posts by concerned citizens. Upon authorities’ inspection, it was found that the vandals had spray-painted the letters “P” and “A” of the “PATTAYA” sign with white, black, and orange paint. They also defaced the surrounding walkways and metal beams with graffiti and stickers.

The Pattaya City sign is a popular viewpoint for tourists to take photos and enjoy the views of the city. The vandalism has enraged many residents and business owners, who have called for the vandals to be legally punished and possibly with damaging government property which could bring years in jail and hundreds of thousands of baht in fines.

Fortunately, the area has surveillance cameras, and relevant authorities are currently reviewing the footage in an attempt to identify the vandals.

In March of this year, Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches personally filed a police report to arrest two teenagers for spraying graffiti on public property at the Bali Hai Pier. The police successfully arrested the vandals and had them clean up the mess they caused by themselves.
