A motorcycle rider was left seriously injured after allegedly disobeying a red light and colliding with a sedan at an intersection in Pattaya early Sunday morning, May 12th.
The incident occurred at 1:10 AM at the Pattaya Klang intersection in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
According to the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation, the motorcycle rider, identified as 32-year-old Mr. Thawisack Songserth, was found unconscious on the ground at the scene of the accident. He was rushed to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for treatment.
Mr. Thawisack’s motorcycle, a blue Honda Click, was severely damaged in the collision. The sedan involved in the accident, a Toyota Fortuner, also sustained damage to its driver’s side and rear door window.
The driver of the sedan, 35-year-old Mr. Nithikan Bunnarongbhawat, told Pattaya police that he was on his way to pick up a customer in Pattaya when the accident occurred. He claimed that he was waiting for the green light at the intersection when Mr. Thawisack driving his motorcycle allegedly ran a red light and struck his vehicle.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the accident. They are expected to interview Mr. Thawisack once he is out of the hospital.
