Samut Songkhram—
At 9:00 AM, on May 10th, 2024, Phetchaburi police received a report from a gas station manager of a man in a gray sedan allegedly fleeing from a gas station in Samut Songkhram, evading a 500 baht payment, driving to Prachuap Khiri Khan.
According to the police report, Khao Yoi and Tha Yang police officers were dispatched to intercept the suspect in the Phetchaburi area as the suspect reportedly drove at a high speed. However, the suspect reportedly was able to avoid police interception attempts from Muang Phetchaburi, Ban Lat, Tha Yang, and Cha-am police stations heading to Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Furthermore, the suspect reportedly attempted to crash into police patrol trucks and the gas station manager’s car who followed the suspect from Samut Songkhram.
According to the police, officers reportedly utilized firearms to intercept the suspect’s sedan in Pranburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and were able to apprehend the suspect after his attempt to escape from Samut Songkhram. It was reported that the suspect fled a distance totaling 160 kilometers.
Ms. Kantana Phuengphothong, the gas station manager, told the police that at 7:30 AM, the suspect allegedly evaded payment of a 500 baht gas bill.
Kantana and her boyfriend who were in a car nearby then followed the suspect and reported the incident to the police.
Kantana’s car reportedly was broken after driving at high speed constantly and would cost more than 500 baht to fix it.
Initially, the suspect, publicly identified only as Mr. Preecha, 53, was confused and told the police that he allegedly wanted to go home to Trang and had no money to pay for the gas. So, he decided to risk not paying for his bill and didn’t expect the manager to follow him across provinces.
At 6:30 PM, Preecha was escorted to Mueang Samut Songkhram police station for further legal proceedings.
