Pattaya Wraps Up International Beach Soccer Competition

Pattaya —

The closing ceremony of the Pattaya International Beach Soccer Competition, held on February 25th, 2024, marked the culmination of a week-long tournament that aimed to promote sports participation and the city’s image as the “Sports City.”

Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya, officiated at the ceremony held at Jomtien Beach, alongside Mr. Surat Thepchaito, Director of the Pattaya Tourism and Sports Office, and network partners.

Organized by the Pattaya Tourism and Sports Office, the competition, which ran from February 16th to 25th, sought to encourage sports participation, develop beach soccer talent, and foster community spirit.

In the “Elite Men’s General Public” category, Russia emerged victorious, while Thailand secured the fourth position. The “Social Men’s General Public” category saw England claim the top spot, with Thailand coming in third. Winning teams received prestigious trophies and monetary prizes from Pattaya City.

Mayor Poramase applauded the competition for adding vibrancy to the city, further solidifying Pattaya’s reputation as a premier “Sports City” and “Sports Tourism” destination. He also emphasized the event’s positive impact on the city’s overall economic growth.

TPN media notes that officials did not comment on a viral moment heavily discussed on social media in the England and China game in which the rival teams, caught up in the passion of the moment and game, got into a brief scuffle. There were no injuries, however, and the players were quickly pulled apart by relevant officials and coaches.
