Pattaya Police Bust Unlicensed Karaoke Shop, Arrest Several Illegal Burmese Employees

Pattaya —

Pattaya Police raided an unlicensed karaoke shop in South Pattaya early this morning, June 8th, and arrested several Burmese workers for working without work permits.

Police officers from the Pattaya Police Station led by police chief Pol. Lt. Col. Surachet Aneksri raided the shop named Sai Kaeng Karaoke at 02.16 AM today after being notified by a concerned citizen that the shop was operating without a proper license.

The raided shop was situated in Soi Koh Phai in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

Police found several patrons dancing in the shop. They ordered the operators to stop the music before searching the patrons’ ID cards and bodies to find illicit drugs and possible underage visitors. All customers were clear of offenses, according to Pol. Lt. Col. Surachet.

However, the police discovered that there were five Burmese workers working inside the shop. They admitted to working as staff members of the establishment, providing companionship to customers while drinking. None of them had work permits, the police chief stated.

As a result, the five workers were arrested for working illegally without work permits. Police also charged the establishment operators for hiring migrant workers without permission and operating and selling alcohol without legal licenses.
