Foreigner in Pattaya Allegedly Stabbed by an Unidentified Foreign “Friend”

A foreign man in Pattaya was brutally stabbed by another foreigner whom the police believed was his friend for unknown reasons at 1 AM this morning, June 4th. The suspect stole the victim’s motorbike and is currently on the loose.

The foreign man of unknown nationality and identity was found with six severe stab wounds on his neck and body on Soi Jomtien 13 in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

He was aided by rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thamasathan Foundation and Pattaya Police before being rushed to the nearest hospital. The victim was lying in a pool of blood when he was found. Another blood pool was spotted about 20 meters away from the man.

The weapon of assault is currently unknown. Pattaya police interviewed a Thai woman who first spotted the victim, Ms. Wanphen Thothong, 42, and learned that she did not see what had happened. Ms. Wanphen only saw the foreign man lying on the ground covered in blood when she arrived at the incident scene.

According to a police report, a CCTV recording of the site showed that the victim arrived at the scene of incident on a motorbike with another male foreigner. The victim was the one driving the bike, while the other individual was seated on the backseat.

The unidentified person was wearing a white shirt and black trousers. After the injured victim parked the motorcycle, the other foreigner walked away briefly and then returned to stab the victim, causing both him and the motorcycle to fall to the ground.

The assailant then kicked and assaulted the victim again before taking the motorcycle and fleeing the scene. Meanwhile, the victim struggled for his life before collapsing 20 meters away from the spot where the attack occurred.

Pattaya Police were investigating the crime scene and reviewing the CCTV footage along the suspect’s escape route.

The victim told police the suspect was a friend, but further information due to his injuries was not immediately forthcoming. Police believe there is more to this story and will be investigating further.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital in a critical condition although was reportedly stable as of press time.
