An Important Notice for our Canadian Readers About Facebook

Thailand/Canada-

The following is a statement released this month by Meta/Facebook in regards to changes they are making on their platform in regards to news on their platform for Canadian users.

The change is due to a controversial law which Meta opposes and as a result has decided to begin testing essentially blocking access for reading or sharing news outlets in Canada. This affects all news, not just Canadian licensed news.

TPN media, our parent company, has been informed by Meta we are part of the test…which means our news pages and content on Facebook will become unavailable for some Canadian users as Facebook tests solutions for potentially blocking news content entirely if this bill is passed.

The law has not yet been passed but Meta has warned that if it does this test of blocking news content will become permanent for people residing in Canada. This would end availability of all news on Facebook for Canadian users, if passed, according to Facebook. We want to remind our Canadian readers that even if the law is passed it only affects Facebook and Instagram and will not affect our website, Twitter, Post.com, Flipboard, TikTok, or other ways we share news.

We invite our Facebook readers to ensure they follow us on our website or alternative social media platforms or sign up for our daily newsletter in case this law is passed and Facebook proceeds with its plan to block news content to Canadians.
