Thai Meteorological Department Warns of Heavy Rain Across Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of heavy rain across Thailand and possible flash floods in the southern and eastern regions.

The TMD states that a strong southwest monsoon is covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. The low-pressure area is covering the lower central part and the eastern part of Thailand. Possible heavy rain is taking place in the lower northern part, central, eastern and southern parts of Thailand. Some areas could bring flash floods.

Waves in the Andaman Sea are up to three meters highs and can be more than three meters high in thunderstorm areas. Waves in the gulf of Thailand are up to two meters high and can be more than two meters high in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the Andaman Sea should keep ashore until June 4th, 2023.

  • Northern

Possible rain, a chance of about 40 percent with strong winds in some areas. Maximum temperature is up to 39 degrees Celsius.

  • Northeastern

Possible rain, a chance of about 60 percent with strong winds in some areas. Maximum temperature is up to 37 degrees Celsius.

  • Central

Possible rain, a chance of about 70 percent with strong winds in some areas. Maximum temperature is up to 35 degrees Celsius.

  • Eastern

Possible rain, a chance of about 80 percent with strong winds in some areas in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Chonburi (Home of Pattaya). Waves are more than two meters in thunderstorm areas.

  • Southern (Gulf of Thailand)

Possible rain with a chance of about 60 percent. Waves are more than two meters in thunderstorm areas.

  • Southern (Andaman Sea)

Possible rain with a chance of about 70 percent in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Waves are more than three meters in thunderstorm areas.
