Thirty Chinese Tourists Escape Severe Injuries After Bus Crash in Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai –

Thirty Chinese passengers have escaped severe injuries after a tour bus crashed in the Mae Chan district.

The Mae Chan Police were notified of the accident on Monday afternoon (May 8th) on the Mae Chan – Fang Road in Baan Thung Tang, Pa Tueng sub-district.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the overturned bus on the roadside. The back tire had exploded. Inside the bus rescue teams found 30 shaken but mostly unharmed Chinese tourists. Eight of them had sustained relatively minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals

The bus driver, whose name was not released by law enforcement, told rescue teams that the tour bus was coming from Mae Ai in Chiang Mai heading to Mae Chan in Chiang Rai.

When the bus arrived at a curve a back tire exploded causing the bus driver to lose control, overturning the vehicle.

No charges in the accident were immediately filed and it was unclear if any were forthcoming, said Mae Chan police in a statement, adding that the driver was cooperative.
