Homeless Man Suffers Serious Injury After Knife Attack, Suspect Claims Self-defense

Pattaya —

A homeless woman in Pattaya struck a homeless man in the head with a chopping knife during a party, alleging it was in self-defense because the man tried to rape her. The victim, however, claimed the woman was trying to rob him.

The victim, Mr. Sujin Sriubol, 52, was assisted by residents of Soi Thep Prasit 9 in Pattaya around 10 PM yesterday, April 24th. He suffered a deep knife wound to his head and seemed heavily intoxicated, the locals told The Pattaya News.

Sujin claimed that a woman tried to rob him at an abandoned building and then attacked him with a knife. He was then transported to a local hospital for treatment by Sawang Boriboon rescuers.

Pattaya Police were later called in to inspect the building located in Soi Thep Prasit 9. They discovered a blood stain on the ground and the Thai woman, Ms. Somchit Meelad, 49, also in an intoxicated state.

Her story was very different from Sujin’s.

Somchit claimed to police that she did not try to rob the victim and instead Mr. Sujin attacked and tried to rape her while they were drinking rice whisky at the building together. She then used a chopping knife to strike him in the head to defend herself.

Ms. Somchit was arrested and was undergoing legal proceedings. The officers seized a chopping knife from her and said they would question Mr. Sujin to determine if Ms. Somchit’s claim was true later.
