Bangkok Shooting at Crowded Songkran Event Leaves Four Injured, Suspect Arrested

Bangkok —

An outrageous shooting at Bangkok’s popular Songkran site at the Royal City Avenue (RCA) left four people injured in the early hours of this morning, April 17th.

The alleged gunman was apprehended at the scene after he entered the event and opened fire on another man. 4-5 gunshots were heard across RCA, which is one of Bangkok’s most popular and crowded entertainment venues.

The venue was hosting a Songkran event at the time of the shooting.

The suspect is being detained and questioned at the Makkasan Police Station.

Four people, three men, and one woman, were shot and injured with non-life threatening injuries by the incident. They were quickly hospitalized at a nearby hospital. The victims were identified by police as 26-year-old Mr. Aobnithi Puengkheha, 26-year-old Ms. Jiraporn Poonsook, 25-year-old Mr. Natthanon Nonthasood, and 28-year-old Mr. Thitipoon Supprasert.

Reports said the shooting happened in front of the Onyx bar, which is one of the most well-known nightspots in the area.

Thai Police have yet to provide details about the gunman’s motive or his identity, but Thai media said the man engaged in a fight with another man prior to the shooting.
