Chonburi —
A road rage incident that stemmed originally from an argument about a barking dog between Chonburi neighbors led to a violent fight and shooting last night, April 12th.
Chonburi Police responded to a shooting report around 9 PM last night. The officers traveled to an incident site at Wat Yang Yai temple in the Huay Yai sub-district of Chonburi’s Bang Lamung district and met with terrified locals, Mr. Norodom Thipsawat, 38, and his unidentified 18-year-old relative.
The two were waiting for the police beside their fallen white Scoopy I motorbike. The young woman suffered abrasions on her body, so she was transported to a local hospital. At the scene, police also collected four 9mm bullet shells as evidence.
According to Mr. Norodom, he got into an argument with his neighbor on the road, allegedly originally over a barking dog. The neighbor, only identified as Ball, allegedly flashed his high beams at him while he was driving his motorbike. Norodom then followed to ask Ball why he did it, but Ball suddenly reversed his car and crashed into Norodom’s motorcycle, which injured the young woman, before speeding away.
The victim said he was checking on his young relative when the suspect returned with his relatives. A clash then occurred for the second time, and then the unidentified relative allegedly pulled out his gun and fired four times at the victim. Fortunately, all shots missed, and nobody was injured.
The enraged suspects managed to escape from the scene and are still at large as of press time. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to help track them down.
Norodom added that he had a long-standing dispute with his neighbor over his dog. He said the man allegedly did not take good care of his dog, having let it bark and defecate in public areas. The incident likely stemmed from this ongoing issue.
