UPDATE: Three Chinese Men who Kidnapped and Murdered a Chinese Woman in Bangkok Arrested in China

Three Chinese men suspected of kidnapping and murdering a fellow Chinese college student have been arrested in China. Thai police are interrogating a possible Thai female accomplice.

First our previous story:

A female college student of Chinese nationality was found dead inside a sack, after she had been kidnapped by three Chinese kidnappers. Thai police believed the suspects have already fled Thailand on a flight to Chengdu, China.

Now for our update:

National Thai police chief Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittipraphat told a press conference today, April 4th, that three Chinese kidnap suspects, Su Pengfei, 24, Chen Sagaing, 23, and Su Xiangfei, 23, have been apprehended by Chinese authorities in China.

The three men are suspected of abducting and murdering Jin Chin, a young Chinese music college student studying in Thailand. The three murdered her and dumped her body in a ditch in Nonthaburi province before fleeing Thailand back to China to abscond arrest, said Pol. Gen. Damrongsak.

However, Chinese law enforcement officers in collaboration with Thai police quickly located and arrested the three in Wuhan. Gen. Damrongsak said the Thai immigration office has already sent investigators to Beijing to interrogate the suspects with Chinese authorities to uncover the true motive of the crime.

Initially, the police chief believed that the motive for the murder stemmed from a love triangle, as one of the suspects had been in a relationship with the victim since they were both living in China. On the day of the incident, the suspect allegedly requested to have sex with the victim, but the victim refused, leading to the kidnapping, ransom attempt, killing and dumping of the body, said Damrongsak.

Damrongsak also revealed that Thai police are also interrogating a 19-year-old woman who may have been involved in helping the suspects. The Thai woman whose identity has been withheld by police so far works at a karaoke shop and reportedly knew the victim.

The three Chinese men are charged with kidnapping for a ransom, premeditated murder, and concealing a body in Thailand.

However, Gen. Damrongsak said they are at risk of facing much harsher penalties, including the death sentence, under Chinese law and that Chinese authorities had promised to “throw the book” at the suspects in this case that has outraged Chinese and Thais alike.
