Rare Golden King Cobra Captured and Released in Chonburi

Chonburi —

A massive king cobra was captured around a Chonburi residential area yesterday, March 12th. The beast not only shocked the residents by its sheer size but also by its rare golden color.

A team of local snake handlers were notified of the potentially dangerous snake being seen relaxing near a house in the Khlong Kiew sub-district, Ban Bueng district, Chonburi. When they arrived at the house, they were greeted by the unfortunate homeowner, who trembling in fear pointed his finger at the reptile.

The beast was hiding from the sun under a heap of old corrugated sheets. 10 snake experts had to surround the pile and slowly removed the iron sheets only to find the golden serpent already alerted to their presence and coiled up in a striking position.

The snake handers, however, smartly used light from a flashlight to distract the snake and then restrained it with a rope around its head. When they measured it, they were baffled to find that the beast was over 4.34 meters in length and weighed 18 kilograms.

The gigantic animal’s golden color was very rare, according to the snake handler team. It was carefully placed into a bag and transported to a nearby rescue center for further examination before it would ultimately be released back into a forest nearby.
