Pattaya —

From today, March 1st, and onwards people can no longer park their vehicle on the beach side of the road in Pattaya due to incresing traffic issues and congestion.

The move indicates that the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions is essentially over in Pattaya based on the number of vehicles flocking to the beach. Pattaya officials had informed the public about this ban since around February 15th.

Since late 2020, parking on the beach side had been permitted to appease complaining beach vendors and due to lack of traffic due to Covid restrictions and border closures. The decision led to a reduction of the once three- or four-lane road to just two lanes with cars parked on both sides.

The road then got further squeezed as contractors construct additional parking facilities at the northern end of this thoroughfare, prompting the city to impose the ban again in the hope of increasing traffic flow.

Roadwork continues to further expand Pattaya Beach meanwhile which will provide additional parking when finished. However, this is not estimated to be completed in full until the end of this year.
