Five stolen motorcycles have been found concealed in the jungle in the Pattaya area. Residents believe the vehicles would be smuggled to neighboring countries by a major motorbike thief gang.
The Honda Wave 110 model motorbikes were found deep in a forest situated in the Takhian Tia sub-district of Banglamung District, Chonburi. The property was discovered by a village headman who later shared pictures of the motorbikes on social media and urged the rightful owners to go claim them at the Banglamung police station.
Vice village headman Mr. Waew Innet told The Pattaya News that every motorbike’s handlebars were broken, the seats were stripped, and the vehicles did not have license plates.
The motorbikes were surely stolen property and might have been hidden there in waiting to be smuggled to Thailand’s neighboring countries, Mr. Waew stated to the Pattaya News.
Another witness, Mr, Sompron, told The Pattaya News that he saw a pickup truck driving by the forest at around 10 PM a few days earlier. The pickup was carrying 2-3 motorbikes on its bed. The vehicle immediately left the area after noticing the residents. Unfortunately, nobody saw the pickup’s license plate.
According to Pol. Col. Nawin Sinthurat, superintendent of the Banglamung police station, the motorbikes were mainly stolen from the Laem Chabang industrial estate area, located about 20 kilometers away from the forest.
At present, the investigators are conducting an on-site investigation and examining surveillance camera footage to identify the suspects, who are believed to be a large motorcycle theft gang, according to police.
