UPDATE: All Thai Policemen Entangled in Taiwanese Actress Shakedown Claim Transferred

Seven Thai policemen who were involved in a controversial extortion claim by a Taiwanese actress have been transferred to inactive posts, pending an ongoing probe.

First our previous story:

The chief of the Huai Khwang police station where seven policemen were accused of extorting 27,000 baht from a Taiwanese actress has been transferred, pending an investigation of his subordinates.

Now for our update:

Only one day after former politician turned whistleblower Chuwit Kamolvisit came out to say that policemen accused of extorting 27,000 baht from a Taiwanese actress, Charlene An, indeed committed the deed and tried to discredit the victim by releasing faulty CCTV recordings, today, January 31st, all seven concerned cops have been transferred.

The transfer order has been issued today by the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) with immediate effect. However, the order states that the MPB has found grounds to believe that the concerned policemen have been derelict in their duties for not impounding the illegal vaporizer found in the actress’s possession.

As of press time, the seven policemen are still free of extortion charges, but a criminal charge as well as a disciplinary penalty may be forthcoming for them for their alleged dereliction of duty, said the statement.

According to the MPB, the seven policemen have been moved to inactive posts at Metropolitan Police Division 1 to prevent possible interference with the conduct of the disciplinary and criminal investigations.

The identities of the concerned policemen have been revealed to the public by the MPB as follows:

• Pol Captain Yodrit Langdulsen, deputy crime suppression inspector at Huay Kwang Police Station
• Pol Captain Patiphan Sirichaiwatana, deputy administration inspector
• Pol Snr Sgt-Major Ativej Jullaphan, crime suppression and prevention officer
• Pol Snr Sgt-Major Krissada Khammana, crime suppression and prevention officer
• Pol Sergeant Chalermchai Siriwangso, crime suppression and prevention officer
• Pol Sergeant Watcharanon Khaoyong, crime suppression and prevention officer
• Pol Sergeant Nanthawat Suwanna, crime suppression and prevention officer
