- Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) on January 5th reported a total of 241 road accidents, with 253 injuries and 25 deaths, on the seventh day (January 4th) of the ‘New Year’s Seven Days of Danger’ road accidents campaign.Surat Thani had the highest number of accidents (79). The highest number of injuries was in Kanchanaburi (81). Chiang Rai has the highest number of fatalities (15).
- Chinese tourists will be arriving in Thailand on the first flight of tourists in almost three years on January 9th, 2023.
Chinese tourists are being marketed by Thailand to come back as ‘Revenge Travelers’.
Dr. Yong Poovorawan came out, January 6th, to allay Thai people’s concerns over a surge in Covid-19 infections in light of China’s upcoming easing of travel restrictions from January 8th onwards.
This first Full Moon Party of this year welcomed more than 20,000 tourists which has generated at least 100 million baht.
