Thailandâs Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) today (December 31st) reported a total of 366 road accidents, with 363 injuries and 48 deaths, on the second day (December 30th) of the âNew Yearâs Seven Days of Dangerâ road accidents campaign.
Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (35.52 percent), followed by drunk driving (25.68 percent). About 78.98 percent of the accidents involved motorcycles.
42.35 percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways. Most accidents occurred between 4:01 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at 8.20 percent.
The highest number of accidents was in Sakon Nakhon (18 times). The highest number of injuries was in Nakhon Si Thammarat (18 people). The province with the highest fatalities was Pathum Thani (4 deaths).
In a total of two days (December 29th-30th) of the Seven Days of Danger, there has been a total of 715 road accidents, 714 injuries, and 85 deaths.
Sakhon Nakhon has the highest number of accidents (26 times) and highest injuries (29 people). Pathum Thani has the highest fatalities (6 deaths).
