The Thai Navy has ordered the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit to use the Sea Fox autonomous underwater vehicle to examine the condition of the sunken HTMS Sukhothai.

The Sea Fox will be delivered to a location 20 nautical miles offshore from the Bang Saphan district in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, where the corvette capsized. It will arrive from the Mine Squadron Royal Thai Fleet in Samut Prakan province tomorrow, December 22nd.

The naval forces will use this underwater survey vessel to take pictures of the sunken HTMS Sukhothai to plan for its future recovery. The Royal Thai Navy said it will need a hand from the private sector in Thailand, citing although the naval forces have equipment, it is not as modern as that of the private sector.

Six adrift sailors were found by rescue teams yesterday, December 20th, but five of them were unfortunately deceased. 23 are still unaccounted for.
