Bangkok police arrested a 41-year-old French national for allegedly swindling two million baht in a fraudulent brand-name product investment.

The suspect, Mr. Jacouel Clemen, was nabbed in the Aspira Ten Ekamai Suites hotel in the Khlong Tan Nuea subdistrict of Wattana district today, December 5th. Clemen was wanted on arrest warrant No. 196/2022 issued on December 2nd, 2022 for fraud charges.

The suspect befriended the unidentified victim and allegedly lied to them that he could import luxurious brand-name products such as purses, perfume, and shoes from France to Thailand for sale, said Bangkok police. After investing two million baht with him, the unnamed victim, however, never received the items while the suspect disappeared.

The suspect lawfully entered the country on October 24th, 2022 and his visa was due to expire on December 7th, 2022. Bangkok police added the suspect had allegedly deceived many victims with the same investment scam and no victims ever obtained the products.

The suspect was transferred to the Bangkok South Municipal Court to proceed with legal action. The suspect has not entered a plea as of press time.
