Four people seriously injured in two-vehicle crash in Pattaya area, driver blames slippery road

Chonburi —

Four people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on a wet Chonburi road yesterday, November 14th.

Four victims were rescued from the pickup truck wreckage by Pattaya Sawang Boriboon rescuers and Huai Yai police after their vehicle collided with a sedan.

The victims got into an accident around 9 PM at the entrance of Nong Ta Son Village in Banglamung’s Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict. The four victims included Ms. Pennapha Phanwong, 33, Mr. Watchiraphon Srisoonthorn, 53, Mr. Ekarat Puangsombat, 27, and Mr. Songphol Ruangwittayawut, 33. All were Thai nationals and sustained moderate to serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims were transported to a nearby hospital. The sedan driver involved in the crash Mr. Utsa Utsaha, 41, sustained only minor bruises. His black Honda Civic sedan was destroyed and fell into a roadside irrigation ditch.

Utsa’s statement was reportedly that the road was wet, causing him to lose control of his sedan, blaming the road versus any driving skills or issues.

The police asked 36-year-old eyewitness and motorist Mr. Manop Totrakarn about what he saw and were told the sedan driven by Utsa was traveling at high speed. Manop stated Utsa tried to overtake another vehicle before he lost control, started to spin, and then slammed into the pickup truck.

Huai Yai police are examining the CCTV cameras around the area. There are no reports of charges being pressed as of now.
