Confirmed Covid-19 cases in Thailand have increased by 12.8 percent, say Thai Public Health officials.
Director-General of the Department of Disease Control Doctor Tares Krassanairawiwong said yesterday (November 13th) that the number of Covid-19 confirmed cases has increased by 12.8 percent from November 6th to November 12th. More patients are being treated at hospitals across Thailand.
Most cases are found in Bangkok and nearby provinces as well as tourism provinces, especially in the eastern and southern parts of Thailand. Both are Thai and foreigners who took part in places where there was overcrowding.
Meanwhile, the fatal numbers from Covid -19 are stable. However, most deaths were found in unvaccinated people and vaccinated people with no booster said Dr. Tares. Doctor Tares is advising unvaccinated elders to stay home and avoid festivals and events. Officials also advised mask-wearing and said that many people, especially youth and tourists, were not wearing masks which according to him raised the risk for Covid.
There is not, however, a mask mandate in Thailand currently and no immediate plans for further restrictions, with the focus being on the public protecting their individual health and taking their own precautions based on their personal risk level and vulnerability.
