UPDATE: Pattaya gold robber who robbed jewelry worth one million baht still on the loose

Pattaya —

Pattaya police discovered the clothes and motorcycle of a robber who on Wednesday stole a million baht worth of gold necklaces from a gold shop in a Pattaya shopping mall.

Our previous story:

A gun-wielding robber robbed a Pattaya gold shop and swept around one million baht worth of gold jewelry before fleeing.

Now for our update:

The suspect’s clothes and motorcycle were abandoned in the roadside forest in Soi Sukhumvit Pattaya 85, in the Nongprue subdistrict of Banglamung, Chonburi, said Pol. Col. Kunlachart Kunlachai, police chief of the Pattaya police station.

Police also found two red empty trays that belonged to the gold shop and the suspect’s gun, which turned out to be a BB gun, scattered around the forest.

The suspect was last seen on CCTV footage while riding his motorbike on Sukhumvit Road leading to the Sattahip district before he disappeared into Soi Sukhumvit 18. The suspect’s belongings are being examined for fingerprints as of press time.

An unnamed resident of Soi Sukhumvit 18 said he heard dogs barking last night, but he did not know that the dogs barked at the suspect until Pattaya police came to him to watch his CCTV cameras.

Chonburi police have been ordered to put their guards up for a possible repeat offense, especially in populous areas such as Bangsaen and Pattaya, while the suspect is still on the loose.

Police will also set up special units to patrol weak spots around the province.
