Loy Krathong falls tomorrow, November 8th, with most festivities taking place from about 5:00 P.M. The most popular areas will be Pattaya and Jomtien beaches, Wat Suttawas, and Mapprachan Lake.

Pattaya police held a major meeting this afternoon, November 7th, detailing precautions being taken for the festival.

These include banning all sky lanterns due to being potential fire hazards, banning fireworks, banning alcohol in event areas, banning smoking in event areas (including cannabis), and ensuring nightlife and entertainment venues close at their legal times between midnight and 2AM depending on what zone the venue falls into.

There will also be checkpoints on Beach Road searching for possible illegal drugs or weapons as well as drunk driving during the event. There are no major road closures but traffic is expected to be significant during the festival.

Have a safe and happy Loy Krathong.
