Pattaya —

A 34-year-old thief was arrested by Pattaya police on Walking Street after trying to pickpocket a woman of her luxurious purse.

The suspect was identified by police as Decha Suebburt. He was first caught by the victims, Wichuda Sangsamanan, 27, and her unidentified friend who said the suspect approached them to sell candies.

The incident took place while Wichuda and her friend were walking on Pattaya Walking Street in South Pattaya at 3 AM today, November 4th.

Wichuda told police Decha acted strangely and got too close to her while trying to sell candies, so she asked to check his candy basket and was surprised to find her purse inside. The victim said she bought her purse for 14,000 baht and felt glad she got it back.

Decha reportedly admitted to stealing. He claimed to police he needed money to take care of his mother. The suspect was arrested and detained at a police station to wait for further legal proceedings.

Pattaya police told The Pattaya News that Decha has a previous history of minor and petty crimes in the area and has been active in Pattaya for many years.
