UPDATE: Australian man killed in traffic accident in Chonburi is a famous surfboard designer

Mueang district, Chonburi —

An Australian man, who fatally crashed his big bike into a power pole after trying to avoid a truck turning at a junction, is a famous surfboard designer.

Our previous story:

An Australian big bike rider died after trying to evade a truck at high speed and crashing into a power pole.

Now for our update:

The victim is identified as Kym Thompson. Last Tuesday, November 1st, he was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene from his broken neck, arms, and legs after colliding his big bike with a power pole.

CCTV footage showed the victim trying to avoid a truck that was entering an alley in the middle of a junction.

Thompsan is from Torquay, Victoria. After setting up the surf brand Water Cooled in the 1970s, he decided to move to Thailand where he worked with the local brand Cobra.

After learning about his passing, his company said in a statement:

“Kym was one of the Cobra Core Team members. He came to Cobra with his Water Cooled brand from Australia back in the ‘80s with the dream of shaping amazing boards and developing a mass-production solution for the surfboard industry.”

“Kym achieved these goals and so many more along the way, a true industry legend that will be missed by many. Our condolences to the entire Thompson Clan.”

A funeral service will be held for Thompson at Samnak Bok temple in Chonburi before his cremation on November 6.
