UPDATE: One alleged Chinese abductor involved in ransom and abduction case caught in Bangkok by Pattaya police

Pattaya —

A 30-year-old suspect in the abduction-ransom of a Chinese man in Pattaya has been nabbed in Bangkok’s Ekamai district today, November 1st.

Our previous story:

The suspects who abducted a 41-year-old Chinese man for a 30-million baht ransom may be Chinese nationals who illegally stayed in Thailand with student visas, according to Deputy National Police Chief Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn.

Now for our update:

The Chinese suspect Mr. Zhang “Tatao” Delong was arrested at a condominium in Bangkok by a combined team of Police Region 2, Chonburi Investigation Police, and Pattaya Police.

He is accused of abducting 41-year-old Chinese national Mr. Ren Heibo from Walking Street in Pattaya and holding him captive for a ransom of 30 million baht.

As of press time, Tatao still reportedly denied being involved in the abduction and the amputation of the victim’s finger, but police were confident in the evidence, which included CCTV footage of the suspect hanging out with the victim in Pattaya.

The victim reportedly happened to be the suspect’s friend.

Tatao is currently being detained for overstaying in Thailand for more than 400 days, according to Pattaya police. An arrest warrant for another accomplice is forthcoming.
