Sattahip —

Certain Sattahip officials allegedly involved in the Mountain B pub fire that killed dozens of people are being accused of dereliction of duty by a famous Thai lawyer and the mourning families of the victims.

Activist lawyer Ronnarong Kaewphet and Sub Lieutenant Phuree Neeno, father of a deceased victim, along with 31 family members of the Mountain B pub inferno victims, filed a petition to Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew at the Reporting Center of the Central Investigation Bureau in Bangkok today, October 18th.

The lawyer asked the authority to press charges against Sattahip officials for dereliction of duty for allegedly allowing the Mountain B’s owner to run his pub without a license, resulting in 25 fatalities and several injured people.

Even though the case just reached a prosecutor, the burnt pub, which is the most important incident scene, has been demolished to the ground already.

Ronnarong and the families said they had so many doubts about Sattahip officials as to why a pub that neither had a license nor fire safety measures was able to operate freely without being examined.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat accepted a petition letter, saying he would forward it to his superiors.
