1. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha and cabinet committee attend royal cremation ceremony for mass shooting victims in Nong Bua Lamphu
The royal cremation ceremony for 37 victims of a mass shooting in Nong Bua Lamphu was conducted on Tuesday with a large crowd of the victims’ sorrowful families and relatives. Prime Minister Prayut as well as the cabinet committee also participated in the cremation service at three temples in Uthai Sawan district. Meanwhile, the government vowed to provide financial remedies as well as mental health assistance to the injured and the family members.
2. Drivers are able to use phones while driving in Thailand but only with hands-free or Bluetooth devices, clarifies government
According to the new rule published in the Royal Gazette last Friday, drivers of all vehicles, including motorcyclists, are allowed to use their mobile phones while driving only if they are connected to bluetooth device or with a hand-free function. Holding and playing the phone while driving is strongly prohibited. For motorcyclists, phones must be attached to motorcycles’ dashboard or windscreen and must not obstruct their views when riding. A fine of up to 1,000 baht will be charged for those who were found violating.
3. Thai Meteorological Department warns of cool and windy weather as well as heavy rain
Colder weather is now officially approaching Thailand, especially in the northern part of Thailand, while the Southern provinces will be suffering from heavy rain until the middle of this week due to the tropical storm Nesat. The Thai Meteorological Department also warns of heavy rain that may cause flash floods in several southern provinces. Last weekend, the worst flooding in the past fifty years was reported in Phuket, causing damages in large areas during the long and busy holiday.
