Pickup truck passenger, 51, killed in Si Saket after their vehicle was reportedly crushed by large fallen tree caused by ‘NORU’ tropical storm on Wednesday

A passenger, 51, was killed in a car accident in the Huai Thap Than district of Si Saket province on Wednesday evening, September 28th, after their pickup truck was reportedly crushed by a large fallen tree caused by the ‘NORU’ tropical storm.

Local police and rescue officials arrived at the scene at the Huai Thap Than road and discovered the pickup truck with a large tree collapsed on its top at the middle of the road, obstructing traffic. Inside the vehicle, the body of a passenger, only identified as Buasorn, was found stuck in the passenger seat.

The rescuers then used a rescue cutter to cut the truck and take the passenger out. Her body was delivered for autopsy. Police also reported two other injuries who were passengers sitting in the back of the truck and were already rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

A 31-year-old truck driver, who was only identified as Lachan, presented himself to the police and was reportedly not injured.

Initially, the driver would be questioned at the police station while the vehicle was being examined for further investigation.
